Since 2008 until 2016, Irina Nikolaevna Savchenkova was the director of the International students work center. Since 2018 till the current moment is the head of the Department of the Russian language and General Disciplines for International Students International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies.

Research interests are theoretical and practical method questions of teaching Russian as a foreign language; problems of educational lexicography and educational types of assessment. Irina Nikolaevna has written over 50 scientific works and teaching methods works, including training manuals on Russian for international students. Irina Nikolaevna’s PhD research " Local-oriented educational dictionary of the Russian language for foreigners: principles of construction and structure " is dedicated to the creating a model of the Russian language dictionary, which provides an effective sociocultural adaptation of a foreigner in conditions of a particular region.

Irina N. Savchenkova is the director of a Master’s program “Cross-cultural Communication and International Leadership”, area of study – 45.04.01 Philology, 2020-2022 years.

Irina N. Savchenkova does community service work. In 2013-2016 years was a chairperson of a Public advisory council at the Russian Federal Migration Service at Rostov region. In 2017-2020 was a member of Public council at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation at Rostov region. In 2016 was a member of the commission of the Russian Federal Migration Service at Rostov region on recognition of foreign citizens and stateless persons as native speakers of the Russian language. In 2018 was a member of the commission of the MIA of the Russian Federation at Rostov region on recognition of foreign citizens and stateless persons as native speakers of the Russian language.

In 2020 Irina N. Savchenkova held the title of an “Honorary worker of education of the Russian Federation”.

Programme overview

Interdisciplinary master’s programme «Cross-cultural Communication and International Leadership” is aimed at theoretical, research and practical training of highly-qualified professionals in the field of cross-cultural communication, who have multidisciplinary knowledge and skills, who are able to proceed professional activities at the intersection of various humanitarian fields and to communicate effectively in cross-cultural situation. The program studies the problems of forming an international leadership during contemporary cross-cultural dialogue through the dynamics of its development, based on  theoretical, empirical and territorial approaches, which allows to predict possible development, to develop practical skills of intercultural communication, which are used not only in culture but in the social, political and economic processes of the modern world.

International Interdisciplinary master's programme «Russian as a foreign language in the field of international education» is a two-year programme intended to train highly skilled experts that possess interdisciplinary knowledge, abilities and skills, integrated competences, capable of undertaking successful professional activity at the intersection of human sciences, especially in the fields of the Russian language teaching, international relations, intercultural communication, translation, academic education and science.
